welcome olive!!

Meet the newest member of our family!! I know its not cupcakes buuuttttt she's cute so you'll forgive me! Haha! This is Olive, or Olie as she is becoming affectionately known. Olive is an 11 week old westie pup. We just got her last weekend and she is so wonderful. We love her to death! Baxter has adjusted fabulously to his new sister and we're loving every second of her puppy antics! She is definitely a lover, giving us lots of kisses and constantly wanting to be right beside Baxter...although most of the time bugging him to play with her! They get along great which is a huge relief. Her favourite place to be is stretched out on a register...too funny!

aidan's 3rd birthday

Aidan is 3!!! Wowser! I work with Aidan's mom, Amanda, and I cannot believe he is 3 already. Aidan is the sweetest, cutest, smartest, most polite 3 year old EVER! He is absolutely adorable and definitely deserved cupcakes that were as equally cute. Aidan LOVES Thomas the Tank Engine so it was no surprise that he recognized the theme of his cupcakes right away...phew! I have to say that it is super rewarding when a child is excited about his birthday cupcakes...makes me enjoy this even more!!

Happy 3rd Birthday Aidan!! Thank you Amanda, George and Aidan for letting me be a part of the party!

kelsey's birthday extravaganza!

These cupcakes were for Kelsey's 20-something birthday party a few weeks ago. I was pretty excited to make these given the new set of alphabet cutters I had just purchased. I have known Kelsey for a few years now...she is the best!! We have definitely had more than a few fun, memorable times...including a trip to GreenBay...GO PACKERS!!!!(Sorry...couldn't resist!). She is a wonderful, sweet person and an awesome friend. I am so glad to know her!!

Kelsey's cupcakes were chocolate with chocolate buttercream icing...mmmmm! I definitely love the little martini glasses...complete with olives... terribly cute!

Happy Birthday Kelsey!!

hannah's 'pinkalicious' 6th birthday

I can't believe my little Hannah is growing up so fast! 6 years ago I was blessed with the opportunity to see her come into this world on a snowy January day. Hannah's mom, Marsha, is my fabulous, wonderful cousin and Hannah is my beautiful honourary niece. I adore her immensly and love being her "Auntie"!

There is no birthday party more perfect for a 6 year old girl than a 'Pinkalicious" themed party! Check out the book if you're not familiar! Even the cupcakes had to be pink! I had a blast planning and making these cupcakes. A lot of love went into each fondant cherry, the cupcake wrappers, and the pink cupcake stand. I am definitely pleased with how it all came together. Only the best for my girl!!

Thank you Marsha, Scott, Hannah and Calder for letting me be a part of Hannah's big day and your lives...I love you all dearly! Happy 6th Birthday Hannah!!!

* The cupcake stand is available for rent. The colours can be changed to match any theme.

Marsha also asked me to make sugar cookies for Hannah's Kindergarten party at school. Of course I couldn't resist the urge to make 'Pinkalicious' cupcake cookies!

autumn's 5th birthday

I had the pleasure of making cupcakes for Autumn's 5th birthday at the beginning of January. I have known Autumn's mom, Jenna, since we were in junior high together and her dad coached our baseball team...its been awhile!! Jenna now works with Gerardo so I was thrilled when he mentioned that she would be interested in having me make Autumn's birthday cupcakes!

When discussing the party Jenna mentioned that they didn't really have a theme for the party but that Autumn absolutely loved cats, pink and purple! I like making "favourite things" cupcakes...so much fun! The cupcakes are vanilla with a whipped, vanilla icing. The cats, balls of yarn and mice were made from fondant. The great thing about fondant is that it hardens on the outside to keep its shape but stays chewy on the inside...like a soft candy that kids love! Thank you to Clever Cupcakes for the idea I used for the cats.

Thank you to Jenna, Ernie, Autumn and Ocean for letting me be a part of the party! Happy 5th Birthday Autumn!!

Jenna also asked for chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing for the adults. I have to say that I love the contrast of the dark chocolate buttercream icing and the silver edible balls. The chocolate buttercream icing is delicious!!

riel's 2nd under the big top birthday

Riel's 2nd birthday was quite the event!! Gerardo went to school with Riel's mom, Cory, so we have all known each other for a long time! We have watched Riel grow into an adorable, energetic 2 year old and we cannot believe how fast the time has gone since she was just a babe!

Making the cupcakes for this event was a dream come true. Cory told me the theme and that she needed 6 dozen cupcakes...everything else was up to my creative desires! What a doll! The cupcakes were vanilla with vanilla whipped frosting and edible fondant animal and clown faces. The giant 2 and the flags on top of the jumbo cupcake at the top of the cupcake tower were also made from fodant. I have to thank my sister for her help on the clown faces... she is always available (much to her chagrin) when I need her!!

Thank you so much to Riel, Cory and Dustyne for letting me be a part of this wonderful occassion. Happy 2nd birthday Riel!

the past, present, future...

...and what a year 2010 was!! I think that last year was quite possibly the craziest year of my life! Gerardo and I bought and moved into a new house, I graduated from University, we got married, I started a new job and began my cupcake adventure! Needless to say our December honeymoon to Mexico was much needed and much deserved!

Definitely the most stressful event of the summer was our wedding. I had a definite vision for my wedding "cake". I , and everyone who knows me, knew that it had to be cupcakes... anything else would just not do! I wanted a cupcake tower with presence that would hold close to 100 cupcakes and a small cake on top (because Gerardo still felt that it was important to have a cake to cut). I designed and made my own cupcake tower after searching high and low for the perfect one and coming up with nothing. The cupcakes were a hit with all of our guests and I had people immediately questioning where they were from. So...the ball started rolling! Because of the wedding I decided to start thinking about a cupcake business more seriously. I was extremely happy with the way the wedding cupcakes turned out and grateful for the opportunities that have come from the most wonderful day of my life. The following photos are from our wedding and courtesy of Moore Photography.

...and yes...the cupcake tower is available for rent!

Happy 2011 everyone! May the new year bring you love, joy, success and patience. We are starting out the year with the addition of a 3 pound, white, furry bundle of joy to our family...wish us luck!
