Check out my baby bum!

Baby bums have to be the cutest things in the whole word. Especially when teeny babies pull their legs all the way up and they stick their bums out in that way that they do - adorable!

I made this cake to welcome baby Aiden a couple of weeks ago...

I had seen many baby bum cake pictures on the internet and was thrilled when Tracey sent me this picture. When someone sends me a picture I always try to stay true to their vision but personalize it with my own touches. While the polka-dots in the picture are undoubtedly cute I thought that buttons would be even cuter. I was pretty pleased with the result and enjoyed every second of making this cake!

The bum was also made out of cake. Baking the cake in a small glass bowl made the perfect round shape! The legs and feet were made from marshmallow fondant. The base cake was iced in delicious buttercream icing!

Welcome to the world Aiden and thank you Tracey for asking to make this special cake!

Baby Blocks

This cake was made for a baby shower put on by my friend Amiee of Devoted to Decorating. Aimee is fabulous... I cannot gush about her enough! I got a glimpse of the baby shower set up when delivering the cake and everything looked great!!

I really love the challenge of a stacked cake. Hours {and I mean hours} of thought, planning and preparation happen before the first layer is even in the oven. And, even the best laid plans generally have me thinking on my toes in the eleventh hour! I think all cake decorators must like the thrill and pressure of getting that cake to its destination safely and in one piece!!

Cute little baby monkey!

The blocks were three different flavours... a great idea for stacked cakes to appeal to all guests! They were red velvet with cream cheese icing, chocolate chip with buttercream icing and vanilla with lemon icing.

Thanks again to Aimee for leting me be a part of your event!

feelin' a little blue

Check out this super duper cool effect!!! I think I'm in love! These cupcakes were made for Navi, a dream customer! Navi tells me how many cupcakes she needs and what flavour she wants and the rest is up to me :) Last week I went for blue on blue swirl and it turned out super cool! To achieve this effect you simply paint the sides of the piping bag with a food colouring of your choice, fill the bag with icing and pipe away. A word of caution though...the first few cupcakes will have quite a bit of colouring. Its best to squeeze out a little bit before attacking the cupcakes. Hopefully Navi didn't have too many blue lips on her hands!
I hope you enjoyed your blue cupcakes Navi!

frogs and snails and puppy dogs' tails

What are little boys made of? Chocolate buttercream of course!! These adorable baby shower cupcakes were made for my friend Diana for her friend's baby shower. They were vanilla and chocolate with super yummy chocolate buttercream icing :) I have to say that I LOVE the baby blue and pale yellow, green and white against the dark icing...so pretty! It is a little hard to see in the pictures but the monogrammed cupcakes spell out "Welcome Riley".

Welcome to the world little Riley!! Just wait until you try your very first cupcake!!
