Pretty Peacock Wedding & a *NEW* Cupcake Stand!

I am so excited about this post! Last weekend I had the pleasure of being a part of my friend, and hair stylist extraordinaire, Jackie's big day {oh and her beau, Christian's, too!! Haha!}. I always feel so honoured when friends ask me to bake their wedding treats! Their reception was at the lovely {newly renovated} Viscount Gort.

Jackie and I have been talking about and planning the wedding cupcakes for months. I love that Jackie wanted the cupcakes to be front and center, on display for everyone to enjoy all night long - no pressure to create something awesome! She also had her eye on a beautiful clear stand..... but I did not have a beautiful, clear stand...uh oh! I searched high and low for the perfect stand but kept coming up short. In the end I decided to purchase a new stand and couldn't be happier! Not only does it look amazing, it has presence. 8 tiers and 200 cupcakes later we had the perfect reception centerpiece!

Jackie chose peacock colours - teal, greens and purples - as accent colours for her decor. The real peacock feather on the side of her cutting cake perfectly tied in with the tall peacock feather table centerpieces.

I also LOVE the black liners used to bake the cupcakes in. Because the cupcakes were two different flavours  {chocolate and cookies & cream} The black liners created a more unified look. Super classy and polished! Not to mention way more cost effective than paper cupcake wrappers :)

Congratulations Jackie and Christian!! Wishing you much happiness and joy in the years ahead! Thanks again for letting me be a part of your big day :)

** My new, beautiful stand is available to rent! It holds up to 200 cupcakes and can be down-sized to accommodate smaller numbers :) **

Little Blue Boxes are a Girl's Best Friend

A couple of weeks ago my friend Elaine had a Tiffany blue themed party to celebrate her birthday. And, of course, no Tiffany themed party would be complete without a signature blue box cake!

Unfortunately there was only delicious red velvet cake on the inside of this box, no sparkly jewels :( I think Elaine's husband may have come to the rescue with a slightly smaller blue box gift though!

Happy Birthday Elaine!! I hope you had a wonderful birthday celebration!

Check out my baby bum!

Baby bums have to be the cutest things in the whole word. Especially when teeny babies pull their legs all the way up and they stick their bums out in that way that they do - adorable!

I made this cake to welcome baby Aiden a couple of weeks ago...

I had seen many baby bum cake pictures on the internet and was thrilled when Tracey sent me this picture. When someone sends me a picture I always try to stay true to their vision but personalize it with my own touches. While the polka-dots in the picture are undoubtedly cute I thought that buttons would be even cuter. I was pretty pleased with the result and enjoyed every second of making this cake!

The bum was also made out of cake. Baking the cake in a small glass bowl made the perfect round shape! The legs and feet were made from marshmallow fondant. The base cake was iced in delicious buttercream icing!

Welcome to the world Aiden and thank you Tracey for asking to make this special cake!

Smile :)

Don't cha just love a big toothy grin?!

I made these cookies for a friend wanting to thank her orthodontist for giving her the perfect smile. Granted, my cookie teeth aren't completely straight - good thing they have braces! But they are awfully cute! I'm willing to bet that they made at least a few people smile :)

Cookies really are the best gift! Even for orthodontists!!

Red, White ... & ... Blue, eh?!!

** AND GETTING BACK INTO ROUTINES**

HOLY MOLY... it's been awhile!! I've missed you :( Considering my last post was in May I've been a little... err... absent. Blame it on end of school year festivities and then summer laziness! I don't know about other teachers but I think my calendar year runs from September to August! July and August are all about turning it off and September brings new energy and excitement. What better time to get back to a blogging routine as well!

Despite popular belief (cough, cough, choke, choke) I have been quite busy over the summer. And I have a lot to share! My mom will be very happy about this as she has gently reminded me a few times that my blog was in need of a little TLC :)

On to the goods...

In June I was contacted by the lovely Karen who was looking for cookies and cupcakes for a very important corporate event she was planning at the beautiful Fort Gibralter. The order was huge - the largest I`ve done to date - at 650 pieces! I was thrilled to get the opportunity to see what my little kitchen could do!! My mom, sister and even the hubby graciously volunteered to put in a couple of long nights - thank you to them!

The theme of the event was a little Canadian pride mixed with the company`s famous blue colour. A few months back I purchased an edible image printer (more on that to come soon!) and it worked wonders to add the logo to the sweets.

Each cupcake was adorned with a small cookie bearing the event logo... the best of both worlds!

And each guest left with a cookie favour - a round sugar cookie with the event logo,
trimmed in sparkly, gold sugar. Aren`t cookie favours the best?! ;)

A huge thanks to Karen for letting me be a small part of your event!

It's Wedding Season!!

When I think about all the summers of days gone by I undoubtedly think about weddings! Big weddings, small weddings, weddings here, weddings there, weddings everywhere!!! Weddings galore... I think one summer my record was 8 weddings... phew! I don't think there is a place in this city that I haven't been for a wedding. Between friends and family I was busy!! And then there was the summer of my own wedding a couple of years ago. Needless to say that was pretty consuming :) And now wedding craziness is all about cupcakes and cookies... I love it!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of providing sweet treats for Elyse and Sean's wedding. Their reception was at the beautiful Niakwa Country Club. Congrats you two!!

Elyse provided the hilarious cake topper and orchid flowers to complete the look!

The great thing about being a teacher is that I can devote my summers to wedding fever! If you are still looking for the perfect treats for your summer event I still have a few weekends left. Shoot me an email - I would love to chat!

Peekaboo Beans... and a **GIVEAWAY!!**

I don't have any mini beans of my own but if I did I would definitely shop {HERE}!

Introducing... Peekaboo Beans - playwear for kids on the grow! These clothes are unbelievably adorable :) Too cute for words really! And... Canadian to boot {gotta LOVE supporting our fellow Canucks}!

Here's how it works...
1. Contact my friend Cory {she's a super cool chick!}
2. Host a Beans Soiree at your house
3. Invite your friends to come to your Soiree and order ridiculously cute, well made, affordable clothes for your beans
4. Have the best-dressed gang on the block!

Seriously, if these clothes were available in adult sizes I would wear them too!

And, because these moms have thought of everything, you can even sell your vintage Bean-wear on the PB website once your kiddos have outgrown your favourite pieces. Says something about the quality, doesn't it?!

Now onto the cookies!! Cory, being the amazing host she is, asked me if I would be interested in making some sweet treats for her Soiree guests. Of course I excitedly agreed and got to work!

The Peekaboo Beans logo is very fun but after a few attempts to recreate it in cookie form I decided to get out my {new and very exciting} edible image printer {more info coming about this soon!!}. It is the perfect solution to logo cookies.

Did I mention that the clothes are amazing?!?!! Well, they are! For the next set of cookies I was inspired by them. The lollipops are way to much fun and who doesn't love a polka-dot print?! I couldn't resist :)
You can also contact Cory through Facebook to find out more information on Peekaboo Beans.

I cannot say it enough - the clothes are great... you will not be disappointed! And you may even get a cookie or two ;)

** Sweet GIVEAWAY** .....aka fun! fun! fun!
If you're interested in trying out Peekaboo Beans clothes for yourself {and I know you are!} this is the perfect opportunity! Check out the Peekaboo Beans website, take a look around and then come back here to leave a comment below this post telling me what your favourite Beans clothing piece is. "Beep beep beep beep beep!"

... aka robot cookies!

Check out these super cute 3-piece robot cookies!

Last week Jennifer emailed me requesting robot cookies for her little man's 3rd birthday. She sent me a picture of some really cool cupcakes and wondered if I could make something similar in cookie form instead. Of course!!! {Almost} anything is possible right?!?!

I opted for a rainbow colour pallete and was really excited {maybe even a little too excited!} to use my brand spankin' new Americolour Gourmet Writer pens to add the black details.
It just occured to me that I should have mixed up the pieces and made different robots...oh well, another time! I wonder if the birthday boy figured that out?!

The first time I saw 3-piece cookies was here. I think they're great! Not to mention you get to eat 3 cookies for the guilt of one ;)

Fit for a Princess... or 2!

Ever since this post a couple of weeks ago my inbox has been flooded with requests for princess crown cookies. The princess phenomenon is nothing new to me {Kindergarten teacher and all :)} but I never thought there would be so many in my house so soon! It's great!!

These princess crown cookies were made for Stella and Grace's 7th birthday party. I have known the girls and their parents since they were born and it's hard to believe that they are 7 already!! The girls' mom, Corinne, requested crown cookies to double as party favours and I {of course} suggested to personalize them with each of the party-goers names. Oh how I LOVE that!!!! Guess she couldn't get away with no princesses 2 years in a row ;)

{If you look closely you can see a little sparkle!}

Cute right??!! I can't completely take credit though... check out my inspiration here!

I also made cupcakes for the girls' party...

I had to laugh when Corinne passed on their request for this years' treats... butterflies and flowers...just like last year!!! I laughed even harder when they exclaimed that they were "WAY better than last years!". That's a compliment right?!?! Haha! I didn't think last year's cupcakes were that bad!

Guess I have my work cut out for me next year ;)

Happy 7th birthday Stella and Gracie!!
